Our story
Where It All Began
Hello, Stecy here, founder of Flanelou, a French mom to a little boy who has been living in the U.S. since 2023. I would love to explain the name of this small business and how the idea for “My Story” books came along. Before becoming a mom, I became an aunt, and I wanted to give a personalized pregnancy and birth book that was stylish and affordable. Unable to find anything to my liking, I decided to create “my story”—or rather, “mon histoire” in French—because I made it in my native language so I could offer it to my sister in France. This gift touched her deeply, and she was thrilled to be able to record all the details of her pregnancy, her delivery, and the arrival of her baby.
Soon after, I became a mom myself, so I updated the book “My Story” for myself, making it even more special. I really wanted to document the whole of my pregnancy journey so I would not forget any of those important moments. But I also wanted to be able to tell my child one day just how much joy their arrival brought us. Plus, as a photography addict, I wanted every moment to be paired with a photo. I enjoy creating, designing, and coming up with new ideas to make the book as complete as possible, so I have started translating it into English while improving the cover design and creating several cover templates in neutral colors. After much thought and with my husband’s support, I decided to share this beautiful book with you so that you, in turn, can record and cherish every detail and every moment of your pregnancy, the birth, and the arrival of this wonderful baby into our world—and that is how Flanelou was born in July 2026.
The Love Behind Flanelou
Before becoming a mom to my son, I became a mom in 2014 to a little cat I named Flanelle. She has been with me through all my adventures; she is helped me grow, and it was important to me that my shop reflect my cat. Because having a pet is so good for children—it helps their development—and they are just such cute little creatures. But I also wanted to include my son’s nickname, “Lou,” because without him, this project would never have come to life. So, combining the two sounds perfect for a book meant to tell the story of a baby’s arrival. That’s also why the logo represents a cat and a baby.
Designing in Boston
This book was entirely designed and produced in Boston, United States. I personally add the personalization to the cover—featuring your baby’s first name or nickname—by hand. Additionally, to ensure safe delivery, this beautiful book is carefully wrapped in tissue paper to prevent any scratches or other marks on the cover before being placed in the envelope.
Very grateful for your orders
Thank you so much for your orders. A little piece of my cat and my son is with you, allowing you, in turn, to capture the wonderful experience of welcoming a child into your lives. I hope you will enjoy filling it out as much as I enjoyed creating it.
